Case Study: Zero Latency achieves safer, analytics-driven VR experiences with Elastic

A Elastic Case Study

Preview of the Zero Latency Case Study

Zero Latency powers the free-roam, virtual-reality gaming experience with Elastic Observability

Zero Latency delivers warehouse‑scale, free‑roam multiplayer VR where up to eight players wear backpacks and headsets to move freely in physical play spaces. Their core challenges were keeping players safe in confined venues (30 locations globally) — avoiding collisions with walls and each other — while managing large volumes of telemetry from backpacks, cameras and servers and using that data to improve game design and operations.

They solved this by shipping structured JSON telemetry with Filebeat into Elasticsearch and visualizing it in Kibana (using Vega‑Lite), with centralized logging, ingest pipelines and Elastic Cloud for scalability. The analytics let them track player positions every second, answer space‑utilization questions, detect proximity alerts (about 7% of ~4,000 samples), and trigger alerts for hardware/software issues — speeding troubleshooting, informing level design changes, and improving safety and operational visibility.
