Using Elastic Graph to Evaluate the imec.IC-link Partner Network

imec.IC-link, the semiconductor manufacturing division of imec, helps innovators, SMEs and universities bring silicon designs to production and supports hundreds of partners and projects each year. Faced with terabytes of heterogeneous technology and business data—ranging from SQL records to free-form documents and external datasets—the team needed a flexible analytics platform beyond their traditional SQL infrastructure to explore relationships across customers, projects and external research programs.

They built a Business Analytics (BA) bot on the Elastic Stack (Logstash, Elasticsearch, Kibana) with Java connectors and added X‑Pack Graph to visualize relationships without restructuring data. This produced interactive dashboards and graph analyses of H2020 projects and the imec.IC-link partner ecosystem, enabling discovery of key collaborators and computing a partner-network degree of separation of 2.6—demonstrating a dense, well-connected network that improves partner discovery and business development.
