Telefónica, a global telecom serving hundreds of millions of customers, faced rapidly growing complexity from VoD, mobile and internet services that produced massive, disparate logs and metrics. Their home‑grown tools were costly, inflexible and largely reactive—providing only limited batch metrics, short retention and no real‑time, cross‑system analysis—so they needed a scalable way to ingest diverse data and turn it into actionable operational insight for their CDN.
Using the Elastic Stack (Elasticsearch, Kibana and Machine Learning), Telefónica centralized and analyzed heterogeneous logs in real time, built consolidated dashboards and automated anomaly detection—tuning the platform to process ~200,000 documents/sec and extend data retention to weeks. The outcome was faster root‑cause identification, fewer false positives, proactive network optimization (rather than maintenance), improved CDN performance and operational processes, and better support for rapid user growth.
