A Elastic Case Study
Netshoes, Brazil’s largest online sporting‑goods retailer operating 32 e‑commerce domains and an 89‑million‑document catalog, needed a search platform that could support massive, multi‑country query volume and eliminate reliance on Oracle Endeca ahead of Black Friday. An initial migration to Elasticsearch revealed cluster performance limits and the risk of site-wide outages, so Netshoes had to quickly adapt its infrastructure, data model, and search behavior to meet peak demands.
Partnering with Elastic Consulting, Netshoes upgraded to Elasticsearch 6.1, added cloud monitoring, optimized node roles and indexing practices, and tuned language analyzers and fuzziness with country‑specific templates. The new platform—now running on Azure—delivers ~150 ms search responses, supports six times the prior peak traffic, reduced operational overhead, improved relevance and availability across all 32 domains, and freed teams to focus on features and automation.
