A Elastic Case Study
glomex is a B2B marketplace for premium video content spun out of Germany’s ProSiebenSat.1 Group. As the team built the platform they faced two main challenges: deliver a fast, feature-rich search experience for editorial customers and third‑party embeds, and support rapid product iteration while scaling to unpredictable spikes in traffic and data volume.
To solve this they adopted an AWS-based microservice architecture with Elasticsearch as a core component for both search and real‑time analytics. Video metadata was moved to DynamoDB while Elasticsearch indexes power faceted, multilingual search through a VideoExplorer/MetadataSearch/Serializer service stack, plus a real‑time analytics pipeline using Kinesis, Lambda, Redshift and Elasticsearch. The result: rapid prototyping and safer iteration, scalable low‑latency search and analytics (data available in ~5–15 minutes), richer dashboards and customer metrics, and recognition for their Data Platform (Gartner award).
