A Elastic Case Study
Perceivant partnered with Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services (IEMS), the largest prehospital care provider in Indiana, to tackle the problem of correlating millions of disparate medical, dispatch and public-data points (667 million documents, ~15 million ingested daily) so crews could be properly equipped and public‑health threats like Ebola could be detected. IEMS’s prior Cognos-based, batch-oriented BI required extensive manual cleansing and took weeks to produce actionable reports.
Perceivant deployed Data Dojo, a HIPAA‑compliant, cloud analytics platform powered by Elasticsearch, Logstash and Kibana, to ingest varied formats, index both structured and unstructured data, and deliver real‑time queries and interactive dashboards. Reports that once took weeks now update instantly, enabling rapid outbreak detection (e.g., Ebola/flu), better ambulance staffing and equipment decisions, broader clinician access, and ongoing monitoring of overdoses, gunshot victims and other public‑health trends.
