MISI harnesses Elastic to increase defense security, enhance cyber career development

Maryland Innovation and Security Institute (MISI) is a nonprofit focused on strengthening U.S. cyber defenses while developing the next generation of cybersecurity talent. MISI needed better visibility and search capabilities to support defense contractors, operate a cost-effective SOC, and train young professionals on real-world cyber tools, using Elastic technologies across its programs.

With Elastic, MISI deployed Elasticsearch, Elastic Security, Elastic Observability, and Elastic Cloud to power threat detection, rapid visibility, and hands-on training. Elastic SIEM helped MISI quickly identify whether defense contractors were affected by attacks like SolarWinds, and interns using Elastic tools in apprenticeship-style programs reportedly doubled their technical skills after six weeks, improving both cyber resiliency and workforce readiness.
