Improving Quality Assurance Automation at Ramsey Solutions with the Elastic Stack

Ramsey Solutions’ Quality Assurance team, led by test automation lead Greg Paskal, faced a common but critical challenge: moving beyond simple pass/fail results to measure test characteristics and trends (duration, environment, exceptions, reliability) so teams could better understand application health and reduce risk. After attending GTAC and learning about a company-wide data lake initiative, the team saw an opportunity to capture richer test metrics and turn them into actionable insights.

They ingested a dozen-plus test metrics into an Elastic Stack data lake and built Kibana dashboards (Test Run, Project, Environment, Custom Reporting) to visualize trends, spot outliers, and flag flaky tests. With methodical visualization practices and training, the effort produced near real-time visibility—nearly 2 million automated test results captured in a year—helping leaders and engineers detect performance issues early, reduce downtime, prioritize fixes, and increase confidence and adoption of automation across the organization.
