A Elastic Case Study
KeyBank, one of the largest U.S. banks with over 1,100 branches and 1,400 ATMs across 15 states, faced a fragmented monitoring landscape—21 data silos, exhausted logging/metrics storage, and an expensive vendor upgrade—leaving teams unable to correlate data, slow to resolve issues, and losing customers due to performance problems (for example, account-opening systems repeatedly crashing).
KeyBank deployed the Elastic Stack—using an Elasticsearch dev cluster plus Winlogbeat and Metricbeat across thousands of workstations—to centralize logs and metrics, quickly identifying root causes (high disk I/O, low memory, saturated network). They then built a production, horizontally scalable architecture with independently scalable, highly available, fault-tolerant tiers, achieving sub-0.5s ingestion-to-index times, enabling faster troubleshooting, no-downtime scaling, and over $5M in savings.
