How Elastic Cloud improves security and operational efficiency for one of the largest school districts in Canada

Calgary Catholic School District, one of Alberta’s largest school districts, needed a way to keep learning systems secure and always available with a small IT team. Before, staff often had to check multiple tools to diagnose issues, and resolving incidents could take two to three hours, creating challenges for students, teachers, and administrators. They turned to Elastic Cloud to improve incident response, support scaling, and reduce strain on their IT operations.

Elastic implemented Elastic Cloud on AWS, along with its data processing pipeline and dashboards, to centralize logging, simplify troubleshooting, and improve visibility across systems. As a result, CCSD cut investigation times from hours to minutes, reduced disruptions to classes, improved security response, and made IT budgeting more predictable. Elastic also helped the district move away from on-premise risk and created a more efficient, scalable environment for the future.
