A Elastic Case Study
Grab is Southeast Asia’s leading ride‑hailing platform, serving millions of rides per day and indexing millions of locations to power fast, accurate point‑of‑interest search. Faced with a fragile homegrown search solution known only to a single administrator and growing scalability and management challenges, Grab needed a more widely understood, performant system that would let the team scale, troubleshoot, and innovate without bottlenecks.
Grab migrated to Elasticsearch and the Elastic Stack for search and logging, then moved all workloads to Elastic Cloud Enterprise (ECE) to retain full operational control while gaining managed features and direct Platinum support from Elastic. The switch enabled cluster provisioning in minutes rather than weeks, improved visibility and workload optimization, reduced cluster load by 70%, freed administrators to focus on product work, and reliably supports billions of documents and very high query and ingest volumes.
