Case Study: GIZ achieves improved government data analytics with Elastic

Government of Rwanda boosts the wellbeing of a nation with improved data gathering and analytics, powered by Elastic Observability

GIZ worked with the Government of Rwanda to improve digital transformation efforts and create a multipurpose data hub for use cases in education, social protection, gender equality, and other public initiatives. The challenge was to unify government KPI data into a single system that could support rapid analysis, monitoring, and evaluation across many smaller, varied datasets. Elastic was selected as the vendor, with Elastic Observability helping power the effort.

Elastic, implemented with partners Comsense and Aptude, provided Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kibana to ingest, enrich, and visualize government data in self-service dashboards. The result was a “business intelligence as a service” platform that gives RISA and GIZ a single smart dashboard to track progress, spot bottlenecks, and identify unintended effects, helping accelerate projects that support vulnerable groups, gender equality, and COVID-19 vaccination efforts.
