Global 2000 Multinational Pharmaceutical Corporation, one of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies, needed a better way to manage massive research and compliance data across its scientific data lake. Its earlier Hadoop-based file indexing approach couldn’t deliver the search speed, performance, or user experience required, so the company turned to Elastic to support R&D and regulatory needs.

Using Elastic, the company built a faster, more flexible search and reporting layer powered by Elasticsearch, Kibana, Filebeat, and Logstash. Search times dropped from about 10 seconds to less than 1 second, researchers could find critical data in minutes instead of months, and Elastic-powered reporting improved auditability and regulatory compliance across 14 million files and more than 95 terabytes of data.
