Generis is the maker of the CARA content-management platform used by life sciences, financial services and energy firms to manage compliance, regulatory submissions and complex data workflows. Faced with millions of documents, slow full‑text searches (up to 30 seconds) and limits of relational databases, Generis needed a scalable, high‑performance solution to meet strict regulatory and operational demands.

By rebuilding CARA on Elasticsearch and running it on Elastic Cloud, Generis added built‑in semantic search and generative AI (the “Chat with Data” chatbot) to accelerate retrieval and document automation. The platform cut average search times from 30 seconds to under 100 ms (about 1,000% faster), shortened RFP production from two weeks to two days (≈86% faster), and now supports clients with archives of up to a billion documents while maintaining 21 TB across three nodes.
