Agfa Graphics Launches a Cloud-based Ecommerce Solution for Print Service Providers

Agfa Graphics, a 145‑year leader in prepress and digital printing, needed to extend its :Apogee Suite with :Apogee StoreFront — a web-to-print, multi-store ecommerce solution that would let commercial printers create multiple branded storefronts for designers, marketing managers and small businesses. The challenge was to deliver an intuitive, print-specific platform that supported multiple languages/currencies, integrated with existing :Apogee workflows, and could be launched commercially at drupa 2012.

Agfa built :Apogee StoreFront on the Java-based Elastic Path Commerce Engine, adding an HTML5 StoreCenter, online editor, multi-store management and SaaS cloud deployment to enable fast, white‑label rollouts and seamless integration with :Apogee Prepress. The team deployed the solution in about 18 months using in-house resources, launched at drupa, and has since rolled it out across Europe and the U.S. with customers in 12 countries — achieving faster release cycles and reduced time-to-market.
