A eLabNext Case Study
The University of Nebraska Medical Center’s Fox Lab (Neurological Sciences) needed a more efficient, centralized rat-tracking system to support multiple strains and Parkinson’s rat-model experiments and to move away from a burdensome paper/digital hybrid. They engaged eLabNext and implemented its eLabJournal electronic lab notebook and inventory solution to integrate colony records with experiments while remaining compatible with existing printers.
eLabNext delivered eLabJournal as a centralized platform with sample/inventory management, DYMO printer integration, and a mobile app, letting the Fox Lab track breeding pairs, litters, genotypes, ear-punch IDs, experiment usage and samples. The result: streamlined experiment management, elimination of the paper/digital hybrid, and clearer metrics — including quantified female mortality in the Parkinson’s model that contributed to a recently submitted paper — improving workflow efficiency and data traceability.
