eLabJournal helps Pitt Lab fight bone and soſt tissue cancers

The Musculoskeletal Oncology Lab at the University of Pittsburgh maintains a unique biobank of patient samples and time-stamped clinical data for over 40 sarcoma subtypes but struggled to track biospecimens and clinical information together using separate Excel spreadsheets. Seeking a cloud-hosted, customizable solution, the lab selected eLabNext and its eLabJournal platform, including the eLabInventory module and Electronic Lab Notebook, to consolidate inventory and patient data.

eLabNext implemented eLabJournal to synchronize sample tracking with clinical records, enabling instant location lookups and unequivocal links between specimens and patient treatments. As a result, the University of Pittsburgh lab now operates a more reliable, secure, and shareable biobank—supporting quicker collaboration, beginning experiment tracking with the ELN, and confidently managing what is now one of the most diverse sarcoma biobanks in the country.
