Polaroid builds a fast native mobile app with EL Passion for 44k active users

Polaroid needed to enhance its mobile application to support its newest product, the Polaroid Lab, a device that transforms smartphone pictures into real-life Polaroid photos. The challenge was to create a fast and stable app capable of satisfying thousands of users worldwide. For this, they partnered with the vendor EL Passion for iOS and Android development.

EL Passion implemented the solution, which included a custom coordinate-aware view for creating photo collages and an AR scanning feature to save and share memories. A core technical achievement was developing custom ICC profiles and a tailor-made data buffering system from scratch to ensure high photo quality and app stability. The results were a fast and stable application with 144k downloads, 44k active users, and a 99.5% crash-free user rate.
