Karta, an Australia-based API-first digital gift card platform, needed to reduce rejected transactions and prevent fraud and Terms of Use abuse as it scaled. To take control of payment flows before transactions reached its payment processor, Karta engaged Ekata to provide a transaction risk and identity verification solution.
Ekata analyzed Karta’s sales data and ran a retrospective batch test, then deployed identity checks at checkout ahead of the payment processor. Ekata’s solution detected 94% of known users abusing Karta’s T&C and flagged 20.2% of payments that were otherwise rejected by the processor, allowing Karta to block risky transactions, avoid processor fees, and significantly reduce fraud and operational costs.
