RIU Hotels & Resorts creates reliable hotel Wi‑Fi across 27 floors and 17 meeting rooms with Ekahau

RIU Hotels & Resorts, a global hospitality group with over 100 hotels, faced the challenge of designing a reliable, high-capacity Wi-Fi network for their Hotel RIU Plaza España in Madrid. The network needed to provide constant coverage for guests throughout the 27-floor building and support high-density usage from hundreds of conference attendees without performance issues. To meet this challenge, they partnered with vendor Ekahau.

Using Ekahau's planning and site survey tools, the network team designed and validated a wireless network that met strict signal strength and channel overlap requirements. The solution ensured both comprehensive coverage and sufficient capacity for high user demand. The project was a success, resulting in excellent Wi-Fi quality that allows guests to stream and use social media seamlessly across the entire resort. Due to these positive results, RIU Hotels & Resorts is expanding the use of Ekahau to its other properties worldwide.
