Wellfleet Insurance – Creating a Seamless Digital Insurance Workplace Benefits Platform

Wellfleet Insurance, a Berkshire Hathaway company with over 25 years administering accident and health plans, launched a new division—Wellfleet Workplace—to enter the workplace benefits market as a carrier. Facing a fragmented voluntary benefits landscape where brokers, employers, and carriers relied on patchworked legacy systems, Wellfleet needed a single, flexible platform that could ingest diverse HR data formats, speed enrollment and billing, support complex product designs, and improve customer and broker experiences.

To solve this, Wellfleet partnered with EIS to build Lighthouse, an API-driven, cloud-based platform using EIS Suite (PolicyCore, BillingCore, ClaimCore, CustomerCore/CEM and EIS DXP). Implemented in phased Agile sprints and launched in early 2021, Lighthouse consolidated quoting, enrollment and administration into a single system of record, reduced data validation from weeks to hours or days, streamlined billing and claims, enabled faster product launches, and positioned Wellfleet Workplace as a digital leader supporting Accident, Critical Illness, Hospital Indemnity and Short Term Disability products.
