A EIS Group Case Study
CSAA Insurance Group (CSAAIG), a personal-lines carrier serving 17 million customers across 22 states and DC with $2.8B in GWP, was constrained by multiple, heavily customized legacy policy and billing systems that blocked upgrades. The fragmented architecture caused servicing inefficiencies, limited sales functionality, slow rate and product changes, and higher operating costs.
Starting in 2009 CSAAIG executed a multiyear, bottom‑up transformation centered on a single Policy Administration System (selected vendor: Exigen), supported by infrastructure modernization, a Model Office for real‑world testing, staged rollouts and active change management. The program converted nearly 1 million policies (including California auto), enabled faster rate/product changes, improved sales and service capabilities and uptime, and will deliver significant cost savings by decommissioning legacy systems.
