A EIS Group Case Study
AMI Insurance, a New Zealand fire and general insurer with about 700 employees and 70 stores (subsidiary of IAG), faced highly manual, inconsistent processes across its branch network and an aging Unisys mainframe that was costly to maintain and unable to support multichannel customer service, faster product launches, automated underwriting, or better claims and BI capabilities. The program was further complicated by major earthquake losses and the subsequent sale to IAG, which delayed implementation and required re-rating and regulatory adjustments.
AMI deployed the EIS Suite in a countrywide, Agile rollout (beginning Q4 2013), migrating 455,000+ policies and standardizing operations under a “One Good Way” model. Results included faster quoting (10–15% within six months), a 40% reduction in claims elapsed time, 20–25% shorter training times, decommissioned legacy platform savings (about $1.6M plus $1.1M annual BAU support avoided) and projected further savings from consolidation. The modern, scalable platform (99.91% target uptime) also enabled online and mobile channels and is being used to migrate additional IAG brands for greater speed to market and lower total cost of ownership.
