Reed Tech modernizes legacy apps with Eigen X and boosts unit test coverage to 75%

Eigen X worked with Reed Tech, a provider of software solutions for government and life sciences clients, to address several technical challenges. Reed Tech needed to modernize its legacy Windows applications and WCF services by updating them to a modern .NET architecture, standardizing coding standards, and improving unit test coverage. Additional goals included migrating on-premise archived data to Azure and implementing a new authorization and authentication model using OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect.

To solve this, Eigen X migrated and re-wrote the services and applications to .NET 8, significantly increasing unit test coverage. They developed a new microservice to interact with Azure storage, enabling the data migration, and re-architected legacy applications into Azure function apps. Eigen X also implemented the new security protocol across all applications. The results were a full modernization of the architecture to meet regulatory standards, a successful migration to Azure that created cost savings, and a standardized, improved security model.
