HCA Healthcare, the world’s largest private healthcare provider, needed a better way to secure highly sensitive patient information shared externally with doctors and other third parties. Its existing encryption system was too complex for busy medical staff, leading to low adoption, support strain, and occasional bypassing of security when data had to be shared urgently.

Egress implemented Egress Switch, tailoring the platform to HCA’s workflow so doctors could access encrypted information using their GMC reference numbers instead of extra usernames and passwords. With Egress, HCA achieved a simpler, more widely adopted email and file encryption solution, reduced support costs, protected data throughout its lifecycle, and avoided having to buy at least five separate systems, delivering a significant cost saving and lower total cost of ownership.
