Case Study: Suffolk County Council protects sensitive Office 365 communications with Egress Switch

A Egress Case Study

Preview of the Suffolk County Council Case Study

Suffolk County Council uses Egress Switch encryption to protect sensitive information shared via Office 365

Suffolk County Council moved to Microsoft Office 365 and needed a better way to securely share sensitive information with third parties such as police and health and social care providers. Egress helped the council replace an inefficient password-protected email process with Egress Switch Secure Email and File Transfer, while also supporting large file sharing and tighter control over data leaving the council.

Egress implemented Switch so staff could encrypt messages directly from Outlook with a simple dropdown selection. The solution gave Suffolk County Council detailed audit logs, recipient controls over forwarding, printing and copying, and domain-based splitting for mixed-recipient emails, helping protect citizen data and avoid a potential ICO fine of up to £500,000.
