Croydon Council expands usage of Egress Switch to securely transition to a paperless office

Croydon Council needed a secure way to move sensitive paper records, including social care files, into a modern paperless office while maintaining strict data protection standards. Having already used Egress Switch Secure Email, the council expanded its use of Egress to include Switch Secure File Transfer for automating the secure transfer of confidential documents into SharePoint and other systems.

Egress implemented an automated, encrypted file transfer process with government-certified key management, real-time auditing, and revocation to protect data in transit and at rest. The project transferred 40,000–50,000 social care files plus thousands of corporate files, saved around two man hours per batch, equating to one FTE day per week at peak, and is helping Croydon Council save over £100,000 a year in storage costs while improving efficiency and productivity.
