Croydon Council needed a secure way to share confidential information with external organizations such as health and social care bodies, service partners, and law firms. Before working with Egress, the council used multiple methods to send data outside secure government networks, which made security harder to manage and control.

Egress implemented Egress Switch, an email and file encryption solution, to centralize secure data sharing and enforce council-wide encryption policies. The result was streamlined processes, stronger audit and control over shared information, increased awareness of data security, and wider benefits including cost savings and efficiency gains; the project also helped drive adoption across the UK, with more than 70% of local authorities eventually using a similar approach.
