IKEA’s U.S. store design and build team, which relies on large CAD drawings and frequent collaboration with architects, consultants and contractors nationwide, struggled to share and access files efficiently. Large file transfers clogged e-mail servers, vendor access posed security concerns, and physical media or vendor-supplied solutions were impractical or too costly.
IKEA adopted Egnyte’s cloud-based file server—using power-user seats for internal leaders, standard seats for vendors, and a remote virtual drive for CAD storage—giving distributed teams instant access, continuous synchronization and secure sharing. The change freed e-mail servers, maintained required security controls, handled exceptionally large files, and improved collaboration and cost-effectiveness.
