FMC Technologies’ Completion Services, a division that provides flowback and wireline services for the oil and gas industry, struggled to collect and share large, varied field data (100 MB–2 GB files in many formats) from dispersed crews across North America. Unreliable internet, slow uploads, reliance on FTP and physical media meant long delays, extra employee hours and rising costs.

FMC deployed Egnyte’s hybrid solution—local NAS storage that syncs to the cloud and corporate HQs—eliminating VPN/FTP bottlenecks and enabling fast local uploads. Using Egnyte’s API they built a custom HTML uploader that organizes data and auto-populates invoices; the change cut 2–3 hours per day per crew, saved an estimated $300,000–$500,000 annually, sped client delivery, and improved team morale.
