City of Fullerton Executes a Holistic Content Security Plan

City of Fullerton needed a stronger way to protect highly sensitive city data, including PII, HIPAA, payment card, and police records, after finding its on-premises file server lacked the security and governance controls it needed. The City turned to Egnyte, a cloud-based content platform, to gain better visibility into where data was stored, who could access it, and how it could be shared securely across departments and with outside stakeholders.

Egnyte replaced the City’s legacy server with a secure cloud environment featuring sensitive data detection, anomaly monitoring, ransomware alerts, and granular access controls. The migration was completed in just one week after preparation, and the platform now supports 430 active users across multiple departments. City officials say Egnyte has improved oversight, enabled secure internal and external sharing, and helped them quickly find and remove prohibited data while maintaining strong security.
