John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University, a three-campus maritime institution with roughly 11,000 students, needed to extend its graduate maritime programs nationwide and globally through Online Distance Learning (ODL). After a feasibility study of open-source LMS options, the university selected eFront as its learning platform for its cost savings, ease of control, straightforward technical requirements and rich feature set.
eFront was implemented to deliver learning modules, multimedia resources, communication and reporting tools, SCORM support and advanced security, enabling instructors to create, mark and record coursework online. The eFront deployment was completed on time and now allows the university to deliver and access online courses over the school network and the Internet, improve instructor digital-course capabilities, and expand access to graduate maritime education with measurable administrative and delivery efficiencies.
