UK University Drives Efficiency & Productivity with EfficientIP

Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU), one of the UK’s largest universities with about 37,000 students and 4,000 staff, faced growing pressure on its network from the proliferation of connected devices and an end-of-support DNS/DHCP/IPAM (DDI) platform. Managing some 600 switches and over 10,000 IP addresses on a legacy Infoblox system, MMU launched a tender to find a more cost-effective, feature-rich DDI solution.

MMU deployed EfficientIP’s full DDI replacement—multiple SOLIDserver appliances for IPAM, internal and external DNS/DHCP plus the NetChange IPLocator—to replace the previous solution. The migration was described as painless, delivered major cost savings (about three times cheaper), and produced measurable gains in efficiency, productivity and visibility (faster issue response, richer search capabilities), with strong ongoing support and plans to add security and NetChange capacity in future.
