Case Study: GKV Informatik achieves centralized DDI and major time & cost savings with EfficientIP SOLIDserver

Streamlining the management of an heterogeneous network infrastructure

gkv informatik is one of Europe’s leading IT service providers for statutory health insurers, operating large data centres and telecom services from its Wuppertal headquarters. Faced with fragmented DDI (DNS, DHCP, IPAM) systems—managed across different teams, hundreds of servers and error-prone Excel lists—the company needed to centralize and simplify IP address, DHCP and DNS management for roughly 100,000 devices and thousands of subnets.

Working with EfficientIP, gkv informatik deployed the SOLIDserver DDI platform to unify IPAM, DHCP and DNS control, migrate mixed architectures and introduce centralized security and automation via SOAP/REST. The project reduced several hundred servers, consolidated management of some 3,000 subnets (and 70 forward/3,000 reverse zones), delivered one-click deployments and significant time and cost savings, while improving usability and operational visibility for staff.
