Solving the Problems of Government Cuts and Pressured IT Teams

Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council, which delivers local government services to around 260,000 residents, faced pressure from ongoing government cuts and needed to reduce IT costs while supporting 4,100 users, 3,500 VoIP handsets, 4,500 devices and 500+ DHCP networks across two datacentres. With its previous Infoblox appliances discontinued, the council issued a tender for a more efficient, cost‑effective IPAM/DDI solution.

Rotherham chose two EfficientIP SOLIDserver 550 appliances with Active/Active DHCP failover and deployed NetChange‑IPLocator; the two‑month migration was seamless with zero downtime. The project delivered major cost savings with no loss of functionality, smooth upgrades and strong training/support, and the council plans to explore EfficientIP’s DNS and further IPAM use in future projects.
