Nevada Department of Corrections - Customer Case Study

The Nevada Department of Corrections (NDOC), which manages more than 13,000 inmates across 17+ facilities with a 2,400-strong workforce and a 30-person IT team, needed full, centralized visibility of safety-critical devices (locks, HVAC, servers) across many remote, standalone sites. Their incumbent IPAM from Infoblox was costly, unsupported in parts of their environment, and left half their locations without reliable remote management, forcing NDOC to seek an on‑premises Linux-compatible, budget-conscious DDI solution.

NDOC deployed EfficientIP’s SOLIDserver IPAM for Linux (9 virtual appliances and 11 MVSM licenses) to provide flexible IPAM, DNS/DHCP management, delegated DNS, and active/passive DHCP failover. With professional services and training, the four‑month implementation was seamless; NDOC gained centralized control and faster, more accurate IP management, superior search and reservation performance, reduced total cost of ownership versus Infoblox, and less non‑IT troubleshooting, while planning further security and automation improvements.
