IP Address Management for the cCell-Cloud-Environment

Hewlett‑Packard needed a professional IP address management (IPAM) solution when it launched HP cCell Services, a multi‑tenant cloud offering managed via a central broker. In‑house tools (largely spreadsheets) couldn’t meet requirements for reliability, cost‑effectiveness, multi‑vendor support, scalability and the ability to manage overlapping IP address spaces, so HP began a vendor search focused on those criteria.

HP selected EfficientIP’s SOLIDserver. The software‑only deployment required no extra hardware, was implemented in about two months by a small team, and delivered automated integration, an intuitive UI, and a clustered failover setup with synchronized VMs. Since September 2012 the solution has run reliably with no incidents, supporting roughly 1,000 virtual and physical servers to date and enabling scalable, highly available cCell expansion and interest in wider rollouts.
