A flagship research university with more than 40,000 students needed to replace an aging VitalQIP deployment and consolidate DNS, DHCP and IPAM into a single, modern DDI platform. The IT team required a cost-effective solution with a friendly, efficient UI, strong reporting, user access controls and auditing; after evaluating vendors they ruled out Infoblox for cost/fit and another product for an unfriendly UI.

They selected EfficientIP, which delivered a clean, usable interface with a global search, integrated VLAN manager, root access, built‑in DNS firewall (RPZ) and DNS rate limiting. The DNS/DHCP SmartArchitecture plus device inventory and SNMP integration into IPAM let support teams quickly find IPs and MACs and view related data. The platform is used daily, allows the university to add services, and “so far it has exceeded our expectations.”
