Effectual Migrates Ginnie Mae to AWS GovCloud with Highly Available Database Modernization Solution

Ginnie Mae, a wholly owned U.S. Government corporation within HUD, faced the challenge of migrating its key financial database application to AWS GovCloud without making any changes to its application code. A primary obstacle was achieving their strict high-availability requirements, as their reliance on Oracle RAC was incompatible with native AWS services like Amazon RDS. They engaged vendor Effectual to guide this modernization effort.

Effectual implemented a highly available database solution using FlashGrid Cluster to run Oracle RAC on AWS EC2. This allowed for a complete migration of the Oracle databases with automated, fast deployment that matched the on-premises configuration. The project was completed on time and within budget, providing Ginnie Mae with a modernized, secure infrastructure that met all government and financial compliance requirements while minimizing risk and providing a foundation for future innovation.
