How Tennessee’s Alcoa City Schools Uses Technology to Transcend the Classroom Walls

Alcoa City Schools in Tennessee wanted a better way to provide early career exploration and interactive learning experiences without the cost and logistics of traditional field trips. The district partnered with Education Networks of America (ENA) and implemented Video Collaboration Powered by Zoom (VCPZ) to help teachers bring real-world experts and destinations into the classroom.

With ENA’s VCPZ, Alcoa City Schools began hosting live virtual field trips to farms, zoos, museums, and manufacturing-related experiences, while also using the platform for district meetings. The solution was easy for teachers to use, required minimal training, and delivered strong student engagement and retention; educators reported that students stayed focused, wrote thoughtful thank-you notes, and gained meaningful exposure to careers and curriculum-aligned content.
