Space Forge, a UK-based manufacturing company, needed to develop safe and reliable reentry technology for its fleet of returnable satellites used for in-orbit manufacturing. extreme conditions of reentry, where it transitions from Mach 25 to landing speeds. Using Ansys Fluent for computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and Ansys Mechanical for thermal and structural analysis, Space Forge successfully validated its reentry vehicle design. The simulations provided trustworthy data that was proven accurate through physical testing, preventing failures. The solution from vendor EDRMedeso enabled Space Forge to automate calculations, run intensive simulations on the cloud, and develop a predictive tool for landing locations, giving them the engineering confidence to safely return manufactured products from orbit.
