NASCAR Meets an Aggressive Launch Schedule with Ansys Cloud

NASCAR, the leading stock car racing organization, faced the challenge of meeting an aggressive 2022 launch date for its Next Gen car after the pandemic shut down its physical testing facilities. The engineering team needed to run thousands of computationally intensive crash simulations using Ansys LS-DYNA but lacked the in-house high-performance computing capacity to do so quickly and iteratively.

The solution implemented by EDRMedeso, through its Ansys Cloud service, provided NASCAR with a preconfigured, on-demand computing ecosystem on Microsoft Azure. This gave the team the flexible, high-powered resources needed to run simulations rapidly. The results were significant; NASCAR saved enormous costs by reducing the need for physical crash tests, which can exceed $500,000 each, and successfully launched the new car on schedule for the 2022 racing season after only two final physical validations.
