A EDRMedeso Case Study
Grundfos, a global water technology company, faced challenges in designing high-performance electric motors for its pumps. Their fast analytical simulation tools were insufficient for novel motor designs, and the finite element analysis required was cumbersome, time-consuming, and resource-intensive. Furthermore, issues in thermal and acoustic domains were often discovered late in the development process, leading to costly delays. They turned to their vendor, EDRMedeso, for a solution involving Ansys software.
EDRMedeso implemented a solution using Ansys Motor-CAD, which provided built-in parametrized geometry templates and a dedicated module for rapid analysis across the motor's full operating range. This streamlined the finite element process and enabled seamless multi-physics analysis, combining electromagnetic and thermal models early in the design phase. The integration with Ansys optiSLang allowed for advanced optimization, drastically reducing the number of physical prototypes needed. This approach shortened development time, maximized motor performance, and minimized costs and climate impact for Grundfos.
