The Flexibility to Support All Alternative Learning Situations

Dover High School, a 1,619‑student high school in Dover, DE serving a diverse, high‑need population, struggled to reach many at‑risk seniors with its after‑school Twilight credit‑recovery program. Students who missed credits were falling behind, disrupting classrooms, and facing dropout, so the school needed an alternative that could reengage them and keep them on track to graduate.

Dover expanded with a Daylight program—three‑hour, school‑day credit recovery using Edmentum’s EdOptions Academy and Plato Courseware with a certified teacher on site—providing targeted, differentiated instruction. In its first year Daylight served 29 students (22 graduated in June, 7 on track for August), Twilight served 45, and the school’s dropout rate fell from 3.8% to 1.6%, with marked improvements in student engagement and confidence.
