Tempe Academy of International Studies is a two‑year‑old International Baccalaureate middle school in Tempe, AZ, serving academically ambitious students with a fast‑paced, inquiry‑based curriculum. Faced with the challenge of enriching instruction, quickly closing learning gaps, and aligning assessments to IB’s higher‑order thinking standards, the principal sought a flexible, data‑driven solution.

Study Island provided standards‑aligned, customizable practice and assessments that supported IB pedagogy, informed instruction with real‑time data, and integrated with other assessment tools. As a result, the academy earned an A from the state in its first year—97% of students met or exceeded expectations in reading and nearly 90% did so in math—and plans to expand while continuing to use Study Island to sustain high achievement.
