Case Study: Baker Elementary School achieves improved early reading readiness with Edmentum’s Reading Eggs

A Edmentum Case Study

Preview of the Baker Elementary School Case Study

Starting Early Learners on the Right Path

Baker Elementary School in Wayland, MI is a Title I elementary serving pre-K through second grade that needed to build strong foundational reading skills as early as possible. Staff recognized many students—particularly those from economically disadvantaged or non-English-speaking homes—lacked materials and practice time at home, limiting readiness by kindergarten and beyond.

The school adopted Edmentum’s Reading Eggs as a simple, parent-friendly supplemental program, trained parents during kindergarten screening, and used it both in class and at home to effectively double practice time. Teachers reported noticeably stronger readiness among Young 5’s and kindergarteners, improved performance for ELL students, and early gains that support the school’s goal of reaching higher reading proficiency on upcoming assessments.
