Pacific Charter Institute (PCI) in Sacramento supports more than 2,700 K–12 students across four independent-study and homeschool programs, many of whom are socioeconomically disadvantaged (55%), English language learners (8%), or in special education (13%). PCI needed a flexible, standards-based supplemental solution that could identify learning gaps, support individualized pacing, and work both as targeted intervention and standalone curriculum.

PCI adopted Edmentum’s “Suite of Learning Options” — Courseware, Study Island, and Reading Eggs — paired with weekly academic-advisor reviews, small-group interventions (Study Island sessions 20 minutes, three times weekly), and live teleconference support, using program data to drive instruction. Results include Heritage Peak’s graduation rate rising 22% and ELL progress improving 15% to “very high,” Rio Valley’s ELA up 22% and math up 13% (2016–17), roughly 12% of ELLs reclassified over three years, and stronger credit-recovery and early-literacy outcomes.
