A Edmentum Case Study
Goodrich Middle and High School (Grades 6–12, 60 students) in rural Goodrich, Texas, led by Secondary Principal Lara Devillier, faced limited course offerings and teacher shortages while serving a student body that is 95% economically disadvantaged. The school needed to expand academic rigor and college-ready opportunities—especially electives, advanced science, and dual‑credit options—for students with few local resources.
Partnering with Edmentum’s EdOptions Academy and Courseware (Texas‑certified online teachers plus online curriculum), Goodrich added courses such as Spanish I–II, chemistry, physics, and medical terminology, supported teacher certification efforts and regular “Edmentum Blitz” progress check‑ins. The initiative enabled a dual‑credit program with the University of Texas, contributed to a 100% graduation rate, placed 10% of disadvantaged students in dual‑credit classes (12+ hours), helped students maintain strong college GPAs (about 3.5 at UT), and helped drive rising enrollment.
