Muhlenberg North Middle School in Greenville, KY struggled with the transition to Common Core State Standards and new K-PREP testing, slipping to the 38th percentile statewide and earning a “Needs Improvement” designation. The school needed a reliable way to identify students who would struggle on the new assessments early enough to provide targeted remediation.

By expanding its use of Study Island (Edmentum) for early diagnostics, targeted assignments, and progress monitoring, the school could predict proficiency and focus instruction on weak standards. Within two years Muhlenberg North rose from the 38th to the 56th percentile and then to the 86th percentile, with Study Island projections closely matching actual K-PREP results and bringing the school close to the “Distinguished” classification.
