Empowering Teachers with Quick Access to Meaningful Data in Bucklin

Bucklin Unified School District #459, a single-site district of 230 pre-K–12 students led by Principal Mark Calvin, faced the challenge of offering more course options and timely, actionable student data within a very limited schedule. Leaders needed ways to expand learning opportunities, provide credit recovery for at-risk students, and get individual- and class-level data to inform daily and weekly instructional decisions.

Bucklin implemented Edmentum’s Study Island for standards-based, adaptive practice and Edmentum Courseware for self‑paced credit recovery, using the Edmentum Sensei dashboard to monitor progress and inform PLC discussions. The data-driven approach personalized instruction, supported credit-recovery success, and contributed to a more than four-point increase in districtwide math proficiency from 2015 to 2016, with ELA holding steady and ongoing optimism for further gains.
